Subscapularis Tears: Diagnosis and Treatment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Historically, subscapularis tears were thought to be very low in prevalence. However, arthroscopic studies in patients with rotator cuff pathology have shown the prevalence to be between 27 and 43%. Subscapularis tears have been reported to be associated with rotator cuff pathology in 27 to 35% of cases. As subscapularis tears are now being recognized to be more common than previously thought, increasing emphasis is now being placed on diagnosis and treatment of this pathology.

Indirect MRA has More Diagnostic Value than Conventional MRI in Partial and Subscapularis Tears of Rotator Cuff
Background and purpose: Determining the severity and site of rotator cuff tear (RCT) is very important for choosing a treatment method. In this study, the diagnostic value of indirect magnetic resonance arthrography (I-MRA) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were compared. Materials and methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in 36 patients attending an orthopedic clinic in 2020. P...

Abstract Background: Despite being the largest rotator cuff tendon of the shoulder, the function and clinical relevance of subscapularis pathology has been largely ignored in the literature. Although many studies have focused on subscapularis tears recently, majority of them reported techniques for open repair. The advent of arthroscopy and arthroscopic repair techniques has opened ...
متن کاملThe etiology and assessment of subscapularis tendon tears: a case for subcoracoid impingement, the roller-wringer effect, and TUFF lesions of the subscapularis.
With the advent of arthroscopy and arthroscopic repair techniques, the diagnosis and treatment of subscapularis tears have been significantly advanced. The precise etiologic factors related to subscapularis tears remain unclear. We propose that subcoracoid stenosis and subcoracoid impingement cause a "roller-wringer effect" on the subscapularis tendon. This effect increases the tensile loads on...
متن کاملSplit Pectoralis Major and Teres Major Tendon Transfers for Reconstruction of Irreparable Tears of the Subscapularis
Isolated ruptures of the subscapularis and anterosuperior rotator cuff lesions are encountered more rarely than supraspinatus or anteroposterior rotator cuff tears. In certain circumstances, reconstruction of the tendon may not be possible due to fatty degeneration and atrophy of the subscapularis muscle or poor tendon quality. Tendon transfer may represent the only surgical option for treatmen...
متن کاملKnotless Arthroscopic Repair of Subscapularis Tendon Tears Using Looped Suture.
Subscapularis tendon tears present a technical challenge because both diagnosis and arthroscopic treatment can be difficult. One difficulty is the limited visualization and working space of the anterior shoulder. Although most tears of the subscapularis are partial- or full-thickness tears of the upper third of the tendon, occasionally, larger or more retracted tears are encountered. Various te...
